The Guidry Family

The weather here in Southeast Texas has been extremely crazy. Like, crazier than usual. I think that we literally had all four seasons wrapped up into one week recently. Since I only do photo shoots outdoors in natural light, it has been quite difficult to follow through with scheduled sessions on their original dates! I was so nervous that this same exact problem was going to occur when the day came to take family & engagement photos of the Guidry family.

I woke up to the weather forecast saying that we had a 50% chance of scattered showers throughout the day, and wind gusts that were NOT ideal for shooting photos in (can we say crazy hair?!?). But I decided to go ahead and wait it out. This couple came to me not only as my first official clients since starting my business, but also from a frustrating situation where the previous photographer that they had scheduled their engagement photos with (6 months in advance!), cancelled on them the day before their shoot was scheduled to happen. Not cool.

About 15 minutes before they arrived at the park that we did part of their session at, it started sprinkling. My heart sank because I really did not want to have to reschedule their session. Not necessarily for my own sake, but for theirs. Engagement and family photos are such wonderful memories to have, and they are such a sweet couple. I really wanted to help them finally be able to capture this special, exciting milestone in their lives together.

Thankfully, it only sprinkled for a moment. But the wind was still insane! I laughed because Nicole was afraid that her dress was going to fly up and flash everybody at the park (which was unusually busy that day!!). But once we walked back to the jogging trail area, the trees blocked the wind perfectly! We were able to capture some great photos back in that area. When we moved on to the bridge for a few photos, the wind died down a bit, so we were able to get even more fun photos there.

Then we moved on to Texas Avenue, which is one of my absolute favorite places to take photos. There are so many different buildings that make amazing backdrops for photos of any kind.

I am truly looking forward to see what God has in store for this very sweet, hilarious couple and their beautiful little family.
